Journaling Guide for Parents of Teenagers

  • 27 Steps

About

Let’s not sugar coat it! Alright, let’s cut to the chase—parenting a teenager? It’s tough. Like, really tough. Between their mood swings, your mood swings, their big emotions, your big emotions. You’re trying to juggle the day to day running of a household, working, keeping up with family and friends, it can feel like you’re barely holding it together. It’s a constant balancing act. And, the reality is, not everything you’re struggling with is about them. Some of this? It’s your stuff. Your old teenage baggage coming up to the surface. We’ve all got it—whether we realise it or not. Those lessons, experiences, and even scars from when we were growing up are still there. So, when your kid pushes your buttons, it’s not just them, it’s triggering something from your past. And guess what? This is your chance to change the narrative. Because let’s be real—nobody had a perfect upbringing. There were things your parents did that worked well, like teaching you discipline or how to handle tough situations. Hold onto those wins. But if they were too strict or didn’t validate your emotions, that’s where you’ve got to step up and do things differently. You get to rewrite that story.
