What Would You Do If You Weren’t Afraid?

Right now, I’m lying in a hammock on a white sandy beach in Koh Rong, Cambodia.
The sound of gentle waves lapping at the shore mixes with the rustling of palm trees. I’m sipping on fresh coconut water, soaking up the warm breeze and the golden sunset.
Living the dream, right?
Yes—absolutely.
But let me tell you the truth about how I got here.......

You see, nobody is afraid of the dream. No one is scared of lying on a beach or feeling the sun on their skin. The fear isn’t in the outcome—it’s in the journey.
To get to this moment, I had to face down some very real fears:
Flying (and all the 'what ifs' that come with it)
Traveling alone
Getting lost in an unfamiliar country
Missing my flight
Catching an infection
Language barriers and feeling completely out of my depth
Bugs and creepy crawlies (because let’s be real—tropical paradise = bugs)
Tummy upsets and food challenges
And these fears? They almost stopped me.
Because fear is sneaky. It disguises itself as practicality.
It tells you, “It’s too risky.” “What if you get sick?” “What if you don’t know what to do?”
But here’s the thing: the life you want lives on the other side of those fears.
When I asked myself "What would you do if you weren’t afraid?"—the answer wasn’t “Lie on a beach in Koh Rong.” It was “Buy the ticket.” “Board the plane.” “Figure it out.”
And because I faced the fear, I’m here now. Living the reward.
That’s where The PIER Method comes in.
Pause – Acknowledge the fear.
Inhale – Ask yourself: what’s possible beyond the fear?
Exhale – Release the fear by leaning into the experience.
Realign – Take in the reality of the reward and adjust to this new version of yourself.
Fear isn’t a stop sign—it’s an invitation to grow.
So I’ll ask you again: What would you do if you weren’t afraid?
Because your dream life? It’s not waiting at the finish line. It’s waiting on the other side of fear.
Remember, it's all about You.
Sue 💛
