If it’s so simple, why is it so hard to live

Lately, my whole social media feed has shifted.
It’s less about self-development and more about health. Real health.
Evidence-based, data-backed, clear as day.
Sleep matters.
Water matters.
Sunlight, movement, nature.
Fresh, simple food.
Nothing extreme.
Nothing complicated.
Just the basics.
And the more I see it, the more I think…we already know this.
So why aren’t we doing it?
Because knowing and doing are two very different things.
I know what it feels like to want the glass of wine at the end of the day.
To stay in the warm bed instead of getting up to move.
To choose what’s easy, comforting, familiar.
That pull is real.
And it doesn’t just disappear because you’ve read a study or watched a video.
I think sometimes we make this all look too simple.
“Just eat better.”
“Just move more.”
“Just get to bed earlier.”
But it’s not just anything.
Because behind every choice, there’s something else going on.
Tiredness.
Stress.
Habit.
Environment.
Identity.
The version of you that’s making the decision in that moment isn’t thinking about long-term health.
It’s thinking…what feels better right now?
And let’s be honest, the things that support our health don’t always feel exciting.
Walking instead of scrolling.
Water instead of wine.
Cooking something simple instead of grabbing something quick.
It can look…boring.
At least at first.
But here’s what I’ve learned, and I’m still learning it.
It’s not about becoming a completely different person overnight.
It’s about becoming aware of what’s actually driving your choices.
Not judging it.
Not trying to “fix” everything.
Just noticing.
There are days where I’m completely aligned.
Where my choices feel easy, natural, almost automatic.
And there are days where I feel the pull just as strong as ever.
That hasn’t gone away.
What’s changed is my awareness of it.
I don’t need to label myself as “good” or “bad” anymore.
I just pause.
I notice what I’m about to choose.
I notice how I feel.
I notice what I actually need.
And sometimes, I still choose the easier option.
But I do it consciously.
And that changes everything.
Because this isn’t about restriction, it’s about relationship.
The relationship you have with yourself, your habits, your choices.
The truth is, the basics work; they always have.
But living them consistently isn’t about willpower.
It’s about awareness.
Small choices.
Repeated over time.
Built from a place of understanding, not pressure. I’m not perfect at this, far from it. But I’m paying attention now. And that’s where everything starts.
Awareness changes what’s possible and it always starts with You ✨
